More than 25 years have passed since the health work of Father Jose Carrollo started in the neighborhoods in the south of Quito.  This small dream, helped by big dreamers that have given heart felt advice and helped demonstrate that a grain of sand can build buildings, has transformed into a hospital of magnitude that maybe only the founder could have imagined. What happens with families, which starts with only a couple, then come the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all the blood brothers and affiliated, and every time is harder and harder to maintain the family nucleus and path, the same has happened with the family of Tierra Nueva; it has grown so much that at the moment the only thing that unites us is the wish to serve, to alleviate the suffering of our population that come to find help for their medical problems.

During this short path it has been proved necessary for us to rethink our roots, to base ourselves on what Father Carollo preached daily: ¨Our life is a gift.  We live it in order to return it as a service to the most needy.¨ During this path we find ourselves to regain our Christian spirit and, most importantly, provide humane service, full of love and happiness, and not only excellent technology and quality professionals.

In this way, the Medical Institute manifests its compromise to strengthen the family of the Tierra Nueva Foundation and together with our patients look to alleviate the suffering of our people.

It is therefore, that during the year 2006, 86,963 external consultations were done, 4,274 hospitalizations, 23,626 therapies of rehabilitation, 13, 304 emergency room consultancies, 211,704 laboratory exams, and 32,807 images exams. In addition, 471 brigade surgeries.
