Center for Integral Development "El Niño"

The Center for Integral Development “EL NIÑO” is located in Amaguaña (a valley outside of Quito), and serve 80 children with distinct disabilities such as:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Autism
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Mental Retardation

It consists of 14 modules, or “small houses,” that are well equipped and designed especially to provide service to the children, located on a large property for recreation and close to nature. All the children come from low-income families, and the following is provided:

  • Scholastic education and education for daily life
  • Stimulation of the Sense of Touch
  • Physical and Speech Therapy
  • Hydrotherapy and hipotherapy (Riding Therapy)
  • Music Therapy
  • Psychological and spiritual support
  • Development of cognitive, motor- , and social skills.
  • Medical and Dental Care
  • Pedagogical attention 
  • Work with the parents
  • Food: 2 meals a day
  • Personal protection and hygiene
  • Transportation daily from door to door in mini-vans provided by the institution.

The center is sustained through the search for donations; currently the center relies on help from friends in Germany, Italy, and Ecuador, and symbolic contributions form the parents.

The Integrated Health System (SSI) of the Tierra Nueva Foundation fortifies the work of the health teams and provides versatile and extensive health coverage.

EDUCATION

In order to serve the children from low-income families in the south of Quito we have established 2 daycare centers, a center for integral development "El Niño", and a program sponsoring school age children.

OTHERS

To meet the needs of the south part of the city of Quito, the Tierra Nueva Foundation also provides Legal Consul.
